Eduardo looks up whistfully after having excitedly described the bike of his dreams - a 1950's era Raleigh made in Ireland. When asked why he is so interested in this bike he says "It makes me happy!"
Wearing his favourite Park Tools apron, he leans against his commuter bike - a very well maintained Giant purchased from Western Cycle.

Commuting to work on his silver Nishiki Olympic bike, Owen worries that the many bumps on Grierson Hill are going to loosen all his spokes! Hearing a rattling this morning, he intends to take off the reflectors screwed onto the spokes. This might mean a quieter ride and truer wheels.

There isn't often a Tuesday night at BikeworksNorth that Varina doesn't clean maintain her commuter bike. You'll find Varina at a work bench quietly working away like last night when she studiously cleaned and lubricated a coaster brake hub.

Keith, a year 'round cyclist does some maintenance on his winter bike - like removing the battery powered strip lights wound around the bike's frame. Those lights must have looked great on Saturday's "Brite Lite Winter Nite Bike Ride"!

Lani and Dave

Here are two hardcore cyclists on their way home from a week of maintaining the Great Divide Trail. Lani in the front has four full panniers and is wearing a backpack while Dave in the rear has a backpack, two panniers and is pulling a B.O.B. trailer full of gear.
Among other things, these guys are carrying paint, paint brushes and a chainsaw with fuel.

Smiling like a Cheshire cat, Robert, a year 'round cyclist, poses with his bike before beginning his shift at the northern location of Edmonton's oldest community bike shop.
Robert proudly showed me how clean his drive train was after installing a mudflap on his front fender.  He encouraged me to make one of my own by handing me a milk carton and a pair of scissors.

Without a wide enough lens it was necessary to tilt the camera to get both Andreas (pronounced undress) and his Japanese commuter bike into the frame.  It seems that Andreas bought this particular set of wheels at this bike co-op and with only a small amount of repair, it has turned into one of his favourite bikes.
